Karunya was the first self-financing Institution in the country to attain autonomy in 1999. In 2004, Deemed University status was conferred upon the Institution. The Chancellor has several plans to put Karunya on the world map of Engineering, Technology and Management Education.
Karunya provides Rs. 5 crores (US $ 700,000) as Scholarship to support needy students from all communities. The MHRD granted Deemed University Status on the recommendation and approvals from UGC and AICTE. It is a Christian Minority Institution with over 8000 students from 29 States and Union Territories of India and abroad. Karunya ranks amongst the top 100 Universities in the nation.
He also founded the Evangeline Matriculation High Secondary School and the Karunya Christian School. Today these two schools educate 1600 children from all backgrounds.
